PICASSO, Pablo
- Bacchanale; two variant linoleum prints. Linocuts from the highly desirable Cercle D’Art collection of 1962. First edition.
Description
- Both excellent impressions and without colour loss. Produced during Picasso’s lifetime and overseen by him. The original linocuts were pressed following Picasso’s own reduction technique, with gradual carving of the linoleum and addition of single colour in stages. Together with Galerie Leiris, Picasso had agreed to publish the first portfolio of those originals at 42% of the size. This 1962 first edition therefore became scarce due a much superior quality to the reprint editions which followed in later years.
- Presented in a one of a kind pairing by Parsonage Studios. Crown stamped thus. Large ‘charred’ gilt wood frames, glazed, on soft white mounts.
- Finished to a museum standard and striking in appearance.
- The lino prints are flawless and in fine condition.
- Image, 32.3x26.8cm; external, 77.5x62.1cm, (both).
