PICASSO, Pablo
Portrait de Francois Gilot; fine heliogravure, printed at the workshops of Fernand Mourlot, Paris in 1954.
Description
Fine heliogravure in black and white, first edition. Fine condition without fading or spotting to paper.
Françoise Gilot had made history in 1953 by becoming the only woman to ever walk out on Picasso. While still wounded by the abandonment, Picasso assembled this suite at the Mourlot Studio in 1954. Rather than erasing her from his narrative, he chose to use her face as the ultimate symbol of harmony.
Framed and glazed; contemporary raw wood frame.
Image, 37.2x27.6cm; external, 42.5x32.6cm.
