PICASSO, Pablo
- Woman on the beach (1937); in first edition collotype, published for Silvana D’Art, Milan, 1957.
Description
- Near fine or better collotype from the distinguished Italian suite, known for the high quality of their production technique. A very good impression; without colour loss or spotting.
- This is a work from a pivotal time in Picasso's artistic experiments. He had formulated new ways of representing the human body, here accentuating disproportion of limbs thus giving new life and motion to shape. This is in some way used in his future works to model both the female body and the space it inhabits.
- Framed and glazed; Parsonage Studio’s custom mount, elevated over black; bearing their crown stamp to verso.
- Image, 27.5x21.4cm; external, 58.7x48.6cm.
