PICASSO, Pablo
Nu sur Fund Rouge (1906); in first edition collotype, published for the esteemed Editions du Chene in Paris, 1948.
Description
In near fine condition. A very good impression, without fading or colour loss.
Picasso's rose period is noted for his use of pink, reds and oranges, creating a more cheerful atmosphere compared to the melancholic blues of the years preceding 1904. The term "rose" comes from the French word for pink, reflecting the predominance of those hues in his work during this time.
Framed and glazed. Custom mount, elevated over bone black.
The ‘du Chene’ suite was pressed in comparatively minute runs after the war, though unnumbered. Scarce in this condition.
Image, 26.9x22.3cm; external, 47.6x35.6cm.
