Framed and glazed, contemporary wooden frame.
During the war the du Chene suites were audacious acts of cultural defiance, printed right under the nose of the Nazi regime. For the international art world, the wartime suite was the first physical proof that Picasso had survived the war and that his style had evolved into a darker, sharper form, defined by outlines that no longer corresponded to the spatial values of his compositions.
