Description
- Original drawing in Indian ink to paper. Signed and dated to bottom right. Excepting minor handling marks to paper, bright and clean and very good throughout.
- Ayrton was a British painter, printmaker, and sculptor. His sculptures, illustrations, poems and stories often focused on the subject of myth. He received crucial technical advice and encouragement in sculpture from Henry Moore and followed the landscape style of Graham Sutherland. And while they had different stylistic trajectories, Ayrton and Lucien Freud were both part of the same post-war London artistic scene and both painted portraits of their mutual friend, John Minton.
