A soviet era copy of Alice’s adventures in wonderland, published in Russian and illustrated. The renowned translation by Boris Zakhoder, now synonymous with the text in Russia, and in use to this day.
156 pages; [4to]; original publisher’s cloth in cream with embossing.
Very clean throughout, bright and fresh and original protective cover intact. Near fine or better; remarkable survivor given the culture of sharing and trading literature which grew out of shortages and very small publication runs. Typically libraries held two copies of a title per hundred thousand people. This is not a library copy, thus without any marking or inscriptions.
A copy of this edition on display in the Royal Academy of Arts, London, as testament to both illustrator and translator in bringing the text to life, in what otherwise would have been a void in Russian literary history.
