Description

  • The work is a study from a period in Herman’s artistic career which formed his style as we know it.
  • Herman moved to London in 1943, where he exhibited with L S Lowry at the Lefevre galleries before resettling the following year in the Welsh mining village of Ystradgynlais in 1944. He had remained there until 1955, giving rise to his best-known body of work, focusing on the Welsh miners and their community.
