MIRO, Joan

  • Untitled composition; published by Maeght, Paris in 1965.

Description

  • Lithograph in black, on tan velin paper (papier carton), created for the landmark double issue of Derrière le Miroir in 1965, which accompanied Miro’s Cartons exhibition at Galerie Maeght, Paris. Vertical centre fold as issued. Produced using Bavarian stone plates.
  • To replicate the visual and tactile qualities of the original paintings, which Miró executed directly onto discarded industrial cardboard, he and Maeght selected brown wove paper stock for the lithographs.
  • Well preserved and in fine condition; without fading or yellowing. The sheet remains structurally sound, bright and clean throughout.
  • Framed and glazed; raw wood frame.
  • Sheet, 55.9x37.8cm; external, 72.4x56.2cm.
