Fine lithograph from a limited edition run of 250.
In fine condition; very good impression, without colour loss. Impression made to Arches wove paper with decked edges.
Lurçat was an active member of the French Resistance during World War II. His bestiary included roosters, owls, and salamanders, which often served as coded symbols for national pride and human endurance against the "fire" of war and occupation.
Jean Lurçat was close to many of the greats of the 20th century. Among these were Matisse, Renoir and Cezanne.
Framed and glazed; Italian wood frame with cream finishing.
