An excellent example of Horst Gerson’s critical revision of Abraham Bredius’s classic catalogue raisonné. Serving as Professor of History of Art at the University of Groningen, Gerson famously established the baseline methodologies for modern Rembrandt connoisseurship by down-attributing and reassessing works previously attributed to the master. This edition bears the notable copyright notice of Meulenhoff International, Amsterdam, and features the rigid print distribution restriction prohibiting export back to the Netherlands.
