BORES, Francisco

  • Tete de Femme; collotype, printed at the workshops of Mourlot Freres, Paris for Teriade in 1939.

Description

  • Collotype in back and white; from the 1939 edition of Verve. Near fine condition and without fading, sheet bright and clean throughout.
  • This publication was important because it was distributed concurrently with the outbreak of World War II in Europe. The subsequent German occupation of Paris forced the closure of independent journals and scattered the city's international art community. This stood as the final major group portfolio of the pre-war School of Paris.
  • Framed and glazed; contemporary wooden frame with black finishing, mount elevated over back.
  • Image, 34.5x25.9cm; external, 42.4x32.3cm.
