Early example of Cervantes’ masterpiece. Octavo, 4 volumes. Seldom seen, bound here in original paper-on-boards with later burgundy spine labels.
Translated by T. Smollett. In very good condition indeed. Mor remarkable of all is the firmness of the binding. Thus, all four spines are good and square. Ex-lib present, is about the only flaw with these. Otherwise free from inscriptions and clean and of the age, very bright.

Little needs said of the story widely considered the first great novel. Like to the bible, in the literary sense, influenced almost all who came after.
Given this, it is forever: of-our-time. And seemingly, never more so than now in our age… “Don Quixote tells the tale of a man so entranced by reading about the chivalrous romantic ideals touted in books that he decides to take up his sword and become a knight-errant himself, with the aims of defending the helpless and warding off the wicked.”
